It’s quite common whilst reading creationist material for them to state that they have no problem with the idea of Microevolution. They’re quite happy with the idea that any given species will have small variations over time – i.e. Darwin’s Finches. But creationists have a major problem with accepting that Micro evolution, plus lots (and lots) of time leads to Macroevolution. They state that it’s impossible for one species to evolve into another species, no matter how many small variations you come up with.

Macro evolution Vs Micro evolution
Friday, May 29th, 2009Atheist Challenge – My Response
Thursday, May 28th, 2009Brett Keane recently posted an Atheist Challenge video, and invited video responses from other atheists. As I don’t do vlogs, and trust me you don’t want to watch my ugly mug, I’ll put my responses in writing.

Top 10 newly discovered species unveiled
Wednesday, May 27th, 2009Top 10 newly discovered species unveiled – Telegraph.
Interesting list of new species that have now been examined, catalogued, and filed. It includes seahorses, snakes, fish, and a white slug. But the one that really caught my attention – Microbacterium hatanonis. A species of bacteria that lives on … Hairspray! OK creationists, explain that. If your God created all creatures pretty much in their final form in 6000BC, what has this one been doing until now? That’s one hell of a long time to fast while you’re waiting for your food to be invented.

Lets analyse his story paragraph by paragraph shall we?
Spiritual Science Research Foundation
Thursday, May 14th, 2009(Via both Pharyngula and Friendly Atheist)
Oh boy, this is fun.
The Spiritual Science Research Foundation appears to be a bunch of nits who attempt to put a scientific face on spirituality and the like. Now sure, the website looks slick and well presented, but don’t let that fool you. Dig just slightly under the surface and you’ll unearth a veritable cornucopia of pseudoscience quackery.
Critical Thinking
Thursday, May 7th, 2009This Jesus and Mo comic made me giggle (as always), and spurred me into writing…
One of the big calls from the US Creationist and ID movements (although we all know they’re basically one and the same) is the idea that with Evolution you need to
Teach kids both sides of the argument, and let them decide. Present them with all the facts and use a process of critical analysis to come to your conclusion.
Now, on the surface of it that would seem a perfectly reasonable thing to do, which is precisely why CrIDiots™ use it. It does of course fall down in a couple of highly important respects.
Comment SPAM
Saturday, May 2nd, 2009My apologies to anyone who may have commented in the past, but had the comment disappear down the plug-hole.
I was using the Akismet plugin to capture comment spam, and seeing as none got through I figured it was working just fine. But then I started to look closely at the stats, and things didn’t seem to add up. I therefore suspect that the filter may have been marking some comments as spam when they weren’t. I have therefore temporarily disabled that plugin. Let’s see how it goes for a little while.
