Feel humble much?

There is nothing like a Space image to make me feel humble, and this one goes right up there with the Hubble deep field images with its ability to make me realise just how insignificant we truly are.

That there on the left is Earth. That there on the right is the Moon. Our nearest neighbour in space. Normally you see images with the Earth and the Moon seemingly almost on top of each other, close enough that you could almost reach out and touch the moon. Well, this really shows just how far away it is.

Our biggest creations wouldn’t even register as a pimple on a dot on that image.

The article linked above also gives an interesting perspective of what it felt like to orbit the moon alone from Mike Collins – the third astronaut aboard Apollo 11.
