This is one of the inherent idiocities of all religions. The moslems assume that Mohammed talked to an Angel, Jesus was God's son, the mormons have their own prophet... But when some crazy guy comes up, "hey, look at me, god talks to me!", he's not taken seriously. Let's assume God talks to me, tells me to stop all this religous bullshit because people are harmed in the name of it and spread the news to everyone. Hmm. I'm sure I'd be taken seriously!
