I consider those that try to force their religion on others are morally bankrupt.

I consider those that deny the evidence of science in favour of faith as idiots.

I consider any laws that attempt to promote any religion, religious belief, or any religious leaders above any other or at the expense of any other as being unjust.

There, that should cover most of it.

I respect the rights of the individual to freedom of thought, and freedom of expression.

BHA Please Dont Label Me poster

First off, this is not a campaign by Richard Dawkins. Prof Dawkins was a prominent supporter of the original “There’s Probably No God, Now Stop Worrying And Enjoy Your Life” advertising campaign. It wasn’t his campaign, he just provided some money and lent his support. I too provided money to that campaign does that mean it’s mine too?

Secondly, the article basically proves the point of the advert, but completely fails to realise it. Those kids are the children of “Evangelical” parents, they aren’t evangelical kids. Not yet anyway. Maybe they will grow up to be evangelical, and that’s fine. Or maybe they’ll grow up to be Buddhist, or Muslim, or maybe even atheist. But foisting a world view on them when they are far too young to make an informed choice is infringing on their rights to self determinism.

I am a Sci-Fi fan, but no one would label my daughter as such as a result. I am a software engineer, but that doesn’t mean that my daughter is too. My daughter is an atheist, but she told me that.

Thirdly, this campaign is not in any way shape or form about infringing on the rights of the parents to raise their children under the umbrella of the parents faith, nor to restrict their ability to teach their children about their particular brand of religious dogma. So all the commenter’s on the article really need to learn to read and comprehend.

The Bible has a plaque next to in with ‘If you feel you’ve been excluded from the Bible, please write your way back into it.’ This has been taken by many visitors are an invitation to deface many of the passages, write a few rude words and express their exact feelings towards the Bible and the Christian religion in general. Not unsurprisingly a few members of the various church organisations are a little upset that this has been allowed to happen.

One Catholic spokesperson said ‘One wonders whether the organisers would have been quite as willing to have the Koran defaced.’

But hang on. Look back at where the idea for the exhibition came from. The Metropolitan Community Church. So, why not go and ask them, they’re part of your little brotherhood aren’t they? This isn’t some exhibition put on by a bunch of Liberal Atheists who were simply out to bash religion. But if it had been, the answer would have been a resounding ‘YES’. In any free society – which is what we claim we live in – then any and all ideas must be held up to scrutiny, and even ridicule

You must not stifle free speech just because you’re worried someone else might get upset and become violent as a result. If you put your ideas out into the public arena, and don’t like what others say about them, then maybe you should take a moment to reflect. Just because every response is negative, and just because it upsets your feelings, doesn’t mean you have the right to restrict people from expressing their opinions.

All I can say is WOW, hold a bigoted attitude much?

How is that statement – “Being a good person doesn’t require God. Don’t believe in God? You’re not alone. www.FreeThoughFlorida.com” in any way offensive to theists? It makes a simple, undeniably true statement, asks a question, and then points to a community of like minded people

At least one local resident ‘Big Mama’ is protesting the billboard, despite the fact that she apparently can’t comprehend simple English sentences. She then goes on to talk about all the problems in schools and with kids killing each other. I’d be willing to lay good money on the fact that most of the ‘problem’ kids aren’t Atheists.

Seriously, if your skin is that thin that you can’t stand the thought that there are others around you who hold to a different set of ideals then you have some major problems.
