As you can probably already imagine, the test is rather silly, and the questions posed are almost entirely rediculous. Apparently, which ever coward is issuing these threats, is so insecure in their own beliefs that they think that someone unrelated to their every day lives working in a field of science is so absolutely evil that they should die! It is surely incumbent upon us all to be intellectually honest about the things we believe in – even if it is only to ourselves. Even our most centrally held beliefs must be available for inspection, and subject to alteration if for instance new evidence surfaces that makes the belief no longer tenable. Reading the results of the survey linked in my previous article I was astounded with the apparent lack of understanding of the validity of science and the discoveries and theories that have resulted. The survey showed that there were not only a significant number of people that believed that evolution hadn’t been proved beyond a reasonable doubt, but there were also some who believed that the evidence had in fact disproved evolution.
