Wednesday, March 11th, 2009A 75 year old Saudi woman has been sentenced to 40 lashes and 4 months imprisonment simply because the met with two men who weren’t related to her. The two men also received similar punishments.
Blasphemy – A victimless crime!
Saturday, February 28th, 2009Here in the UK our ancient and unused anti blasphemy laws were repealed last year. That was great news for sure.
Now however, the UN is seeking to impose its own Blasphemy laws on all member states. The resolution was tabled by various Muslim states, but also supported by several Christian groups. This is in direct contravention of the UNs own Declaration of Human Rights, in addition to violating the explicit freedom of speech laws already in existence in many countries.
It should be noted that it appears that the majority of supporting countries are not democracies, nor are they ones that are necessarily that hot on human freedoms.
